Is the leadership of WordPress still in touch?

I’m known for doing things differently, so I’d like to put a question to Matt and to Mary from the WordPress leadership. It’s actually two sides of the same question, and it’s a simple one.

From the leadership’s perspective: do you believe the WordPress leadership is still in touch with the active part of the community?

And the other way around: does the community feel it’s still in touch with the leadership?

I think the answer to those two questions explains much of what WordPress has been struggling with — ever since the forced rollout of Gutenberg, and more recently through the latest drama, much of it caused by Matt himself.

With all due respect to everyone involved, there’s frustration on all sides. But our relationship is like a marriage we can’t walk away from. There is no divorce option. We’ll be walking through the same door for the rest of our lives — so we might as well find our middle ground and reconnect. That’s the only real solution.

So let’s run a survey. Let’s take responsibility, together, for an active and vibrant community once again.
